If you want to do sightseeing sitting down then rooftop bars in Paris are for you. If your feet have given up on you try some rooftop bars in Paris to continue your citybreak experience in comfort. Broadly there are two types of rooftop bars in Paris: those that are part of a hotel and others which are a stand-alone bar. We shall take a look at both types here and don’t worry – you don’t have to be a resident of a hotel to enjoy a drink at their bar though you may find that after a late hour the bar is open to residents only. Ensure you check beforehand that it is open before you traipse across Paris to find it closed.

Créatures Paris – while you’re out shopping your socks off in Galeries Lafayette department take a well deserved break from heroic consumerism and call in to Créatures Paris on the eighth floor. You will have a 360° view of the city including the Eiffel Tower in the distance (which can be seen from many roofs in Paris) as well as the nearby Opera House. In the open air you can enjoy lunch or dinner as well as a drink and if you’re worried about availability then it may be worthwhile phoning in advance for a reservation. Please note it is open from mid June to mid October. Metro: Opéra
Laho Bar & Rooftop – is situated close to Gare de Lyon railway station in 5-9 Rue Van Gogh, 75012 so it’s in Arrondissement 12 in the eastern end of the city on the Right Bank. Being 60 metres up you can take the lift to get you there. On top you will find panoramic views in a very chilled out atmosphere. The spot is open from 6pm until midnight and entry is limited to a 200 headcount so you may have to wait on arrival. On Friday and Saturdays there may be trendy DJs playing loud music catering to a younger crowd and there may be an entry charge accordingly. Metro: Gare de Lyon
Hotels with rooftop bars
Hyatt Regncy Paris Etoile – 3 Place du General Koenig, Paris 9; the Windo Skybar is on the 34th floor and at 140m up this makes it the highest bar in all of Paris. Its 200 square metre size holds 160 people and from the floor to ceiling windows you can see, well, basically everything. While they claim no reservation is required we advise you check in advance, just to be sure, unless of course you’re already staying there.
Terrass Hotel – 12-14 Rue Joseph de Maistre, Paris 18; the Terrass Rooftop Bar on floor 7 offers both inside and outdoor seating. It also presents outdoor heaters along with a retractable cover and thus is open all year round. The restaurant end of things takes reservations but the bar/ terrace doesn’t and is subject to walk-in availability.     ©ArrowTours
