So, if we’re doing Irish pubs in Amsterdam we may as well go on a pub crawl! Thankfully within the city we have a large selection of Irish pubs. In Amsterdam since so much radiates outwards from Centraal Station then let’s start from there. We do not presume to give opinions on the quality or otherwise of the Guinness or any other drinks – that is for you to decide. Our first stop on our clockwise trail is…..
Blarney Stone – 29 Nieuwendijk Amsterdam 1012 LZ; this is only about 500m from Centraal Station on the southwestern side so if you’re already too homesick for an Irish bar in the barely-three-hours since you left your last one at the airport in the Emerald Isle then you could call by here before you even check in to your hotel! When you find yourself famished as you leave just pop in to Mister Wings right next door and stuff yourself; you’ll wonder why you ever bothered to leave home at all……. Tram stop: 2,12,13,17
On then to Molly Malone’s – 9 Oudezijds Kolk Amsterdam 1012 AL; this is on the southeastern side of Centraal Station in a converted warehouse and is just about within touching distance of the Red Light District if you’re so inclined. It has a canal-side terrace facing the St Nicholas Church, is family-friendly, has wi-fi and food is served too.  Tram stop: 4,14,4,26
South next to Irish Pub Sláinte – 87 Warmoesstraat Amsterdam 1012 HZ; it’s on the western side of the Red Light District and very close to the Oude Kerk (Old Church) which may be on your sightseeing list. As well as booze from home they also offer your yearned-for breakfast, ranging from scrambled eggs on toast for lightweights to the battleship-sinking Jumbo Irish breakfast: mushrooms, eggs, sausages, beans, tomato, bacon, hash browns, black & white pudding and……toast! Follow it up with a Liffey Breakfast if you’re still starving.       Tram stop: 4,14,24
Good news – you have to stagger less than 100m south along the same street to Durty Nelly’s – 115 Warmoesstraat Amsterdam 1012 JA; it has a wide selection of beers, whiskey and spirits. If you want to watch sports then there are many screens dotted around the premises. There is also live music and DJ’s on some evenings. Tram stop: 4,14,24
If you’re still on your feet then the final stop is O’Reilly’s Irish Pub – 105 Paleisstraat Amsterdam 1012 ZL; this is 550m southwest of the last hostelry and just behind the main Dam Square. It’s got a outdoor seating and tables at the front and the interior décor is just like your favourite pub back home. Choose from the Main Bar, the Sung and yes – the Library to savour your tipple and you can also order from their menu.      Tram stop: 2,12 ©ArrowTours
