Best Areas to Stay in Rome

There are distinct locations considered the best areas to stay in Rome. The city is halved by the River Tiber with the Vatican and South Rome on the left while on the right is Central and North Rome. The best areas to stay in Rome depend on what you are seeking from your trip….it could be a 5-star hotel in which to pamper yourself…….or maybe designer, branded shopping……to be close to museums and historic monuments…… or taking in the Vatican. You can find all these in many areas of Rome.

Termini and Quirinale Districts – Some of the best areas to stay in Rome
The area around Termini Station has the largest number of hotels in the city and is the place where most visitors stay. This is because Termini is the hub of Rome’s public transport, with links to the airports, to other Italian destinations by train and houses the Metro underground tube system for the city – making it the ideal access point for tourists and sightseeing. In addition, Termini is home to sights including the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore built in the 5th century in honour of the Virgin Mary and Diocletian’s Baths built around 300AD and were the largest of the imperial public baths.

The Quirinale district adjoins Termini westerly and contains the Quirinale Palace, the tenth largest in the world. Staying in this area leaves you close to the Trevi fountain. You will find the above area on our booking box for Rome.

Veneto and XX Settembre Districts – Some of the best areas to stay in Rome
Just north of Termini are the Veneto and XX (or 20) Settembre areas – also very popular with travellers. The tree-lined Via Veneto is one of the most famous offered by the city and is known for being exclusive, attractive and the main home to Rome’s café life. During the 1960’s it drew the Hollywood glitterati and was the setting for the movie La Dolce Vita – the sweet life.

Just slightly east of the Via Veneto is Via XX Settembre and on our map view for Rome hotels you will see many 3 and 4 star hotels for you to choose from in both these places.

The Vatican and Saint Angelo – Some of the best areas to stay in Rome
Many visitors come to Rome specifically as pilgrims and to see the holy sights and relics of the Vatican City and the surrounding area. For such visitors it makes sense to base themselves close to their destination in order to have easier access to St Peter’s Square, St Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican museums. While there are actually very few hotels within the Vatican City itself, we offer many to choose in the area of St Angelo – immediately to the east of the Vatican and just a few minutes’ walk away. Have a look at Vatican/ St Angelo in our booking engine or give our office a call on 041 983 1177 and we’ll be happy to help you choose your best areas to stay in Rome. ©ArrowTours
